WINSTON-SALEM - Deacon John Quincy Adams departed this life on Saturday, February 12, 2011 after an extended illness. He was born December 16, 1937 to John Q. Adams and Susie Odom. He was retired from R J Reynolds and was a faithful member of Bethlehem Holiness Apostolic Church until his health declined. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Cuthrell Adams, his brothers, Richard Odom, Chester Odom and Frank Odom. He is survived by his daughters, Lisa Majors, April Davis of Little Rock, Ark., Sharon (Gerald) Kirkland. Pamela Harris and Cynthia (Frank) Taylor; his sons, Quincy Adams, Reginald Gentry, Denard Gentry, Alvin (Melinda) Gentry, Antonio Gentry, Michael Gentry and James (Betty) Gentry; one brother, Robert Adams, one brother-in-law, George Cuthrell.; one sister, Ruby Stroman of Philadelphia, PA; two sisters-in-law, Carrie Horsely of New York and Frances Reddic of Rock Hill, SC. Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, February 18, 2011 at St. Matthews Apostolic Church where Bishop Joseph Lowery will officiate and the family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1 p.m. with interment to follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. The remains may be viewed Thursday, February 17, 2011 from 2 until 6 p.m. The family would like to thank The Brian Center and Salem Kidney Center. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.
