Age 46, died "Tuesday" at the State Hospital in Middletown where he has been since Dec 1881. Served at Lt. Colonel in the 16th Connecticut Vol. Infantry. Preceded in death by: his wife Helena (1876) who was the daughter of Henry Ferre of Comstock & Ferre of Wethersfield; his sister Mrs. E. D. Williams (1876); and a brother George Burnham who died in CA. Survived by two brothers: Joseph Durkee Burnham of Hartford, CT and Albert Abner Burnham of Willimantic, CT. Funeral conducted at home of his cousin, Miss C. C. Peck of No. 260 Main Street. Flags were flown on his and Major Henry L. Pasco and Quartermaster Gurdon Robins, Jr.'s graves who are also of the 16th Connecticut and are buried at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
