Rev. Elton Piersma, age 83, of North Palm Beach, FL, passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2011 into the arms of his Lord and Savior. He was born March 17, 1927 in Grand Rapids, MI, to Albert and Alice (VanderLaan) Piersma.

Rev. Piersma is a graduate of Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia and Calvin Seminary in Grand Rapids. He had most recently served as Pastor of Visitation for First Presbyterian Church in North Palm Beach, FL. He had previously served as Pastor of Trinity Chapel Christian Reformed Church in Broomall, PA, Pastor of Spring Lake Christian Reformed Church of Spring Lake, MI, Associate Pastor of Fruitport Christian Reformed Church of Fruitport, MI, President of Christian Life Enrichment Ministries and Counselor with the Marriage and Family Center, both of Muskegon, MI, and Executive Director of Good Samaritan Ministries of West Palm Beach, FL.

On January 17, 1946, he married Evelyn Timmer and she preceded him in death on November 2, 1990. On January 1, 1993, he married Aleda Dekker and she survives him along with 2 sons: Tom (Linda) Piersma of Thousand Oaks, CA, and Steve (Sharon) Piersma of Spring Lake, MI; 5 daughters: Sharon (Warren) Hecker of Grand Rapids, MI, Faith (Joe) Weaver of West Chester, PA, Kathy (Steve) Klobucher of Grand Haven, MI, Mary (Ralph) Wilkins of Grand Rapids, and Beth Piersma of Grand Rapids, MI; daughter-in-law, Michelle Piersma of Owensboro, KY; 2 step-daughters, Shirley (Jerry) Ritsema of Innsbrook, MO, and Beverly (Larry) Dekker Davidson of Carmel, CA; 23 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by 1 brother, Les (Mary Lou) Piersma of Grand Rapids; and 2 sisters, Phyllis (Carl) Dahlman of Grand Haven, MI and Mary (Ernie) Leep of Cutlerville, MI. He was preceded in death by son, Daniel Piersma; 2 brothers, Clarence Piersma and Peter Piersma; and several brothers- and sisters-in-law.

A Funeral Service for Rev. Piersma will take place 7:00 PM Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at Spring Lake Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Lucky Arnold of First Presbyterian Church in North Palm Beach, FL, officiating. Visitation with the family will take place 2-4 and 6-8 PM Sunday, February 13, 2011 at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven. Interment will be in Lakeshore Cemetery.
