Ruth St. Clair Pinckney Barrenbrugge

Bluffton, SC - Ruth St. Clair Pinckney Barrenbrugge, born February 14, 1902, died March 26, 2006 after a brief illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis C. "Teddy" Barrenbrugge and two daughters, Frances Rebecca Barrenbrugge Ryan and Ruth Amanda Barrenbrugge Graybeal and fourteen brothers and sisters. She was the daughter of the late William Eustace and Lula Johnson Pinckney of Pinckney Colony .

During her lifetime, she served as librarian at the Bluffton School, the Barrel Landing School and at the Bailey's Store Branch School.

She received nurse's training at the former Ursuline Convent in Columbia, SC as well as at the St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Savannah, GA. During World War II she served as a Red Cross volunteer and as a civilian airplane spotter. At the time of her death, she was the eldest member of Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Bluffton.

She is survived by one brother, Henry T. Pinckney ; six sisters, Virginia Highberger, Mary Powell, Agnes Quimby, Nonie Johnson, Bess Darr and Dot Gnann , three grandchildren, six great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

The Rosary will be prayed at 3:00 p.m., on Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at Saint Andrew's Chapel, Pinckney Colony Rd., Bluffton, SC.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Andrew's Chapel at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 30, 2006 followed by interment in the Pinckney Colony Cemetery , Bluffton, SC.

The family will receive guests at the Graybeal home in Bluffton, SC following the funeral.

Mrs. Barrenbrugge's family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to all those who have helped make her final years happy and productive.
