Tennessee House of Representatives - 1973-1983 (88th-92nd General Assembly's) Representing 74th District of Benton, Carroll, Henry, Humphrey, and Stewart counties.

Tennessee State Senate - 1983-1991 (93rd-96th General Assembly's) Representing 25th Senatorial District of Benton, Decatur, Henry, Henderson, Hickman, Lawrence, Lewis, Perry, and Williamson counties.

Benton County's most tenured public servant on state level when leaving office in 1991. Born at parent's home in Morris Chapel Community (Benton County, Tennessee) on June 30, 1937; son of then Representative John Wyly Lashlee, and Senator Mildred Louella (Jolly) Lashlee. Married Sandy Lynn Gatlin of Paris, Tennessee on July 26, 1958; Five children by this marriage: Frank Jr. (1959), Bridgette (1961), Brett (1962), Bryan (1966), and Patricia (1967). Married to Sandra McMinn of Columbia, TN. on May 1, 1993. No children from this marriage. Independent insurance agent and realtor. Graduate of Camden High School, Tennessee State, and Nashville School of Law. Member of AmVets, American Legion, Elks, 32nd Degree Mason & Shriner, N.R.A., Ducks Unlimited, and Brentwood Baptist Church. Founder and former Chairman of Tennessee West Tennessee Legislative Democratic Caucus. Chairman Education Committee - State House, Chairman Conservation Committee - State Senate, Vice-Chairman Education Committee - State Senate. National Legislator of the Year 1981; authored more pieces of "model" legislation than any legislator in national history. Some notable legislation he authored were The Comprehensive Vocational & Secondary Education Act (Established Vocational Schools in every county in Tennessee), Capital Punishment Bill (longest floor debated bill in Tennessee history and opened the door to other states passing a Constitutional death penalty law), RICO Act, Moment of Silence in Public Schools, Veteran's License Plate and Disabled Veteran's County Wheel Tax Exemptions, Hazardous Chemical "Right to Know" Act, Establishment of Proficiency Testing in Public Schools Bill, State Sponsored Veteran Cemetery, Hospital, and Nursing Home Sponsorship law as well as too numerous to mention affecting education, state parks, conservation, and law enforcement.

Father John Wyly Lashlee served in State House and Senate, mother Mildred Jolly Lashlee served as Tennessee's first woman elected to senate, brother John W. Lashlee, II served in Davidson County (Nashville) government as Councilman-at-Large and Criminal Court Clerk; grandfather O.P. Lashlee,; great grandfather J.P. Lashlee, great-great uncles Anderson P., Benjamin P., and William A. Lashlee,1st Cousin Frank Clement served as Governor of Tennessee and numerous other ancestors and relatives served in county and state offices.

Age 70 of Brentwood. June 18, 2008. Preceded in death by his parents, John Wyly Lashlee and Mildred Jolly Lashlee.

Lashlee was born to a most politically prominent family. Both his parents had served as Tennessee State Senators as well as his father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great uncle having served in the Tennessee House of Representatives and various Benton County (Tennessee) elected offices. His brother, John, has served as a Nashville city councilman in addition to his career there as a prominent television sportscaster on WTVF Channel 5.

Lashlee was first elected to the Tennessee House of Representatives in 1972 and he served 5 terms. He moved to the upper house in 1982, being elected to the Tennessee Senate from the 25th District, and served there until 1990.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Lashlee; children, Frank Lashlee, Jr., Manchester, TN, Bridgette Lashlee, Kenia, AK, Brett Lashlee, Dickson, TN, Bryan Lashlee, Mt. Juliet, TN, Patricia Vick, Camden, TN; step daughter, Christy Owens, Freeport, MA; 15 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; loved by many nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to Odyssey Hospice or St. Jude's Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, June 23, 2008 in Brentwood Baptist Church, with Mike Glenn, Senior Pastor, officiating. Pallbearers: John Wyly Lashlee III, Sam Lashlee, Bart Lashlee, Mike Johnson, Mark Florence, Emory Florence III, John Jolly, John Bukky, Jr.. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park
