Elbert Lester Jennings, 53, resident of Rt. 4, Galax, Hebron Road, died rather suddenly at his home this morning (Monday, January 16, 1961).
Born in Carroll County October 1, 1907, Mr. Jennings was a son of the late Jackson Jennings and wife, Mrs. Etta Bedsaul Jennings.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Lineberry Jennings; two daughters, Mrs. Homer Melton and Mrs. Kenneth Russell, both of Woodlawn; three brothers, Cleavie Jennings, Rufus Jennings, and Samuel Jennings, all of Galax, two sisters, Mrs. Hiram Sizemore, Woodlawn, and Mrs. Harold Sizemore, Galax, and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow (Tuesday) at 2 p.m. at Midway Baptist Church by the Rev. Lonnie P. Shaw, pastor of Camp Zion Church.
Interment will follow in Monta Vista Memory Gardens.
The body will remain at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home until 1 p.m. tomorrow, when it will be removed to the church.
