Funeral services for C.V. "Onery" Ashdown, 77, of Port Byron, who died Friday at Illini Hospital, will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Dailey-Gibson Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald Riley of Port Byron United Methodist will officiate. Burial will be in Fairfield Cemetery, Coe Township. Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Port Byron Fire Department. Mr. Ashdown was born in Coe Township. He married Georgia Shumate in July 1932 in Mount Carroll. He was employed by Moline Body Co., retiring in 1969. He was a former assistant fire chief of the Port Byron Fire Department, Philo Masonic Lodge, Port Byron, and Scottish Rite Consistory, Moline. Surviving are the widow; a son, Charles Ashdown, St. Charles, Mo.; two grand daughters, and a brother, Banker Ashdown, Port Byron.
