Joseph H. Andert Sr., 82, of 1707 S. Catalpa, died at 4:40 a.m. today in Memorial Hospital of natural causes. He was a retired Studebaker Corp. employee. He was born on March 8, 1896, in Austria and lived here 81 years. In 1918 in South Bend, he married Theresa C. Vascil, who died in Aug., 1949.

Surviving are three sons, Joseph H. Jr. of Edwardsburg, Louis J. of Mishawaka, and Gene of South Bend; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Rose Scniedel and Mrs. Frances Buczolich, both of South Bend, and a brother, Frank of South Bend.

Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Zahoran Funeral Home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church with Msgr. John Sabo, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.

Andert was a member of the DFV German Club, William Penn Club, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the St. Stephan's Society.
