Vance Carter Dies Suddenly
E. Vance Carter, farmer of Loris, Route 2, died unexpectedly
at his home at 2:15 a. m. Monday.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock
in the Loris Methodist Church, the Rev. Kenneth W. Bedenbaugh officiating. Burial followed in Patterson cemetery, directed by Hardwick Funeral home.

Mr. Carter was born in Horry County March 9, 1887, a son of
the late W. E. and Charlotte Ann Hardwick Carter. He was
a lifelong resident of Horry County, serving approximately 20 years as a deputy sheriff and five years on the police force after which he farmed until his death.

Mr. Carter was twice married, first to the former Miss Zilpha Stroud, who died Feb. 1, 1939. Surviving from this union are three daughters, Mrs. Tony Carnaggio and Mrs. Ethel Henry both of Ocean Drive and Mrs. R. S. Cox of Columbia. His second marriage was to Mrs. Lucille Singleton Suggs who survives with three step-daughters, Mrs.Bobby Bruton of Dillon Mrs.Troy Sims of Loris and Mrs. Bill Bowling of Stem, N. C. and two stepsons, Huger Suggs, US Navy stationed at Charleston and Harold Suggs, US Air Force stationed in France.

Also surviving are a brother D. Edgar Carter, Loris; six sisters, Mrs. S. B. Bryant, Mrs. Will Graham, Mrs. Henry Graham Mrs. Annie Goff and Mrs. Harry Vaught, all of Loris and Mrs. A.J. Brown of Fayetteville, NC; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren

Pallbearers were J. H. Yon, A. G. Long, Grover Suggs, Bryant
Cannon, M. A. Sawyer and J. C. Hipp.
