Election official dies at residence in Loris
LORIS -- B. Frank Boyd, 73, a state election official, an independent real estate developer and an associate of Holden Beach Enterprises, died Sunday at his residence.
The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Loris First Baptist Church. Burial, directed by Hardwick Funeral Home, will be in Patterson Cemetery.
Mr. Boyd was born in Horry County, a son of Daniel Lyde Boyd and Delphia Rosetta Blackburn Boyd. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a former commander of the American Legion. He was a member of the S.C. Election Commission and the Horry County Election Committee. He served on the Horry County Development and Tourism Board and was a member of the Forty and Eight Club. He was a lifetime member of the Moose Club, chairman of Loris Ducks Unlimited, and a member of Loris First Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Norma Ochterbeck Boyd; three sons, Terry W. Boyd of Loris, and B. Frank Boyd II and Gordon Boyd, both of Columbia; a daughter, Angela Derrick of North Myrtle Beach; four sisters, Vista Suggs of Sanford, N.C., Edith Hewitt of Florence, Clara Duncan of Loris and Sarah Duncan of Tabor City, N.C.; and a granddaughter.
