She moved to Fairfield with her husband in 1969 and had a lengthy career in banking. She worked as Branch Manager for People's Savings Bank in Fairfield until her retirement in 1982, when she moved with her husband to Ocala, Fla., where they lived for 17 years before moving back to Connecticut in 1998.

Mrs. Fairchild was very active at St. Lawrence Church, where she volunteered as a money counter after weekend Masses, and at the Shelton Senior Center. Known as the "cookie lady." She was an avid Bingo player, and enjoyed ceramics, bowling, and playing golf. Above all, she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grand-mother.
