— LEWISBURG — June M. Hoyle, 80, formerly of Lewisburg and recently of Kennett Square, passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 11, 2011, with her children by her side at Brandywine Assisted Living in Kennett Square, where she had been living since May.

June was born Feb. 25, 1930, in Johnstown, a daughter of the late Walter and Mary Lou (Rugh) Masters. June's husband, Dr. J. Preston Hoyle, preceded her in death on March 29, 2003 after 51 years of marriage.

June was a 1947 graduate of Johnstown High School and earned her teaching degree at Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1951. She began her teaching career in Springdale, teaching kindergarten while Preston was finishing medical school at the University of Pittsburgh.

June and Preston moved to Lewisburg in 1961. June was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lewisburg, serving as a deacon, elder, and many other volunteer positions in the church. June was also an active volunteer in the school P.T.A., a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader, and occasionally substituted in the Lewisburg schools. She was a longtime member and former president of Evangelical Community Hospital Women's Auxiliary in Lewisburg, as well as a former Evangelical Hospital board member.

June was the co-founder and a former board member of the Merrill Linn Land and Waterways Conservancy, which honors the life of former Lewisburg attorney and dear friend, Merrill Linn.

June remained an active member of the Lewisburg community until her move to Kennett Square, where she was closer to her children and grandchildren.

June leaves behind a son, Jeffrey Preston Hoyle, Esq., of 10 Grist Mill Road, Glen Mills; two daughters, the Rev. Dr. Lynn Stanton-Hoyle of 10833 Oakcrest Court, Fairfax, Va. 22030, and Susan Hoyle Fournier of 103 Mougins Circle, Kennett Square, PA 19348; eight grandchildren, Eric and Sara Stanton-Hoyle of Fairfax, Va., Megan, James Preston and Natalie Fournier of Kennett Square and Chloe, J. Preston II and John Hoyle, of Glen Mills.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by one brother, Richard Masters, and one sister, Betty Lou Rodkey.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, at the Lewisburg Cemetery with her daughter, the Rev. Dr. Lynn Stanton-Hoyle, pastor of Clifton Presbyterian Church, Clifton, Va. officiating.

Friends will be received from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, February 20, at the First Presbyterian Church, 18 Market St., Lewisburg, where a memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., followed by a reception in the great hall of the church. Officiating will be her daughter, Lynn, and the Rev. James King.

The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, Lewisburg.
