Mr. Summers was born June 5, 1911 in Beeville, Texas, the youngest son of Rufus William and Tecoah Walker Summers and attended school in the McGregor area at Horn Hill. On May 23, 1936, her married Florence V. Eckols in Waco.
Mr. Summers was employed by McGregor Water Department, Bluebonnet Ordinance Plant-water department and civil service at James Connally and Lackland Air Bases. In September 1970, he retired. He was a member of College Avenue Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on Aug. 22, 2004; six brothers, Guy, Roy, Amos, Jack, Grover and Pete Summers; and two sisters, Carrie and Kay.
Survivors include one son, Dannie Summers; daughter and son-in-law, Carole and Ralph Rushing; four granddaughters, Annette Johnson and husband, J.C., Rae Bailey, Tracy Hehs and her husband, Joe, and Deanna Gallegos; one grandson, Clinton Summers and wife, Jennifer; and seven great-grandchildren.
