US Congresswoman. She moved with her parents to a farm in the Boise Valley, Idaho, in 1911, graduated from Link’s Business University, in 1929 and was a chemist for a milk products company. She was deputy county clerk, auditor, and recorder of Canyon County, (1929-39) and treasurer of Canyon County, (1941-51). In 1953, she was elected as a Democrat to the Eighty-third Congress and to the next four succeeding Congresses, serving until 1963. Not a candidate for re-nomination, she served as Special Assistant for Elderly Housing, Federal Housing Administration, Washington, D.C., until her death from Hodgkins disease at age 59.
