NEOGA - Ruby Ballinger, 78, of Neoga, Illinois, passed away at 9:29 A.M., Tuesday, February 8, 2011, in the St. Anthony Memorial Hospital of Effingham, IL. Ruby was born June 25, 1932, in Coles County, IL, the daughter of Loy and Lyda (Wallace) Armstrong. She married Jesse "Gene" Ballinger, October 14, 1952, in Shelby County, IL. Ruby is survived by her loving husband of fifty-eight years, Jesse "Gene" Ballinger of Neoga, IL; sons, Peter Ballinger and wife Sara of Shelbyville, IL and Timothy Ballinger and wife Mary Joe of Neoga, IL; daughters, Jeanie Creath and husband Gary of Eldon, MO, Virginia Williams and husband Stanley of Shelbyville, IL, Jackie Karrick and husband Jeff of Neoga, IL, Donna Helm of Neoga, IL, Kim Hilvety and husband Bill of Herrick, IL and Janice Blackwell of Shelbyville, IL; thirty grandchildren; and nineteen great grandchildren. Mrs. Ballinger was preceded in death by her parents; twin daughters, Alice and Allison Ballinger, daughter, Tammie Baker; brothers, James, Charles and Roy Lee Armstrong; sisters, Mary Lou Elliott, Louise Martinez and Maria Peters. Grandson, Johnston Williams. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association , or to the American Cancer Fund. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, February 11, 2011, in the Swengel - O'Dell Funeral Home of Neoga, with the Rev. James Maroon, officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Swedish Lutheran Cemetery west of Neoga, Illinois.
