A large number of friends and relatives from this section attended the funeral and burial of Mrs Nanie Moomaw Thomas of Upper Catawba, at Mt Union Church, last Saturday. Mrs Thomas died at her home last Thursday. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs Ethel Thomas Jackson, of Cloverdale, and three sons, W Alfred, Catawba, Clinton M, Troutville, and ___ P Thomas, of Hagerstown, Md. A sister, Mrs G W Layman, of Troutville, a brother, Simon B Moomaw, of Mufton, Ind., and thirteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
