She was born in Earlysville, Va., and was the daughter of the late Edna Talbert and Byrd Talbert. Mrs. Saunders, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Hopewell Church of the Brethren, also enjoyed painting and being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Saunders, and a sister, Mildred King.
She is survived by a daughter, Nancy S. Sinclair and husband, C.B.; a son, Ted Grayson Saunders and wife, Susie; granddaughter, Emily Saunders Irby and husband, Kevin; great-grandsons Kolby and Colton Irby; brother-in-law, George King; sister, Alice Lassiter and husband, James; and two nephews, other family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, in the Hopewell chapel of J.T Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held in the chapel following the visitation. Interment will be in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George.
