Sarah was the daughter of Cornelius Mabrey (b.1735, d1775) and Hannah Yeakley (b.1735, d.1775). Her parents both died in Missouri.

Sarah married Thomas Simpson they initially located in Tenn. About 1805, having in mind the purchase of land in the Indian Territory they moved to Hamilton Co., Ohio.

Then in Dec 1809 the family, by means of a four-horse wagon, moved their family, consisting of 6 children into a cabin Thomas had built the year before in Jennings Township, Fayette Co., Indiana.

They lived there the rest of their lives. Their home was known as "The Simpson Cabin where red men were often fed and treated with kindness".

Thomas Simpson and his wife were earnest members of the Baptist church and took an active part in the development of the religious life of that community during the formative days of the settlement.

They were the parents of 11 children that they named: Nathaniel, Tabitha, Joshua, Thomas, William, Sarah Jane, John, Henry H., Elizabeth, Jesse and Solomon Simpson.
