Terry Allen Bakalar, age 66 of Hamilton, Iowa passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at the Monroe County Hospital in Albia.
Terry was born on January 16, 1944 in Hocking, Iowa, to John and Mae (Van Gilder) Bakalar.
Terry married Dorothy Darlene DeVoll on February 1, 1964. Terry and Dorothy were married for 36 years and blessed with four children. Dorothy died on December 7, 2001.
Terry worked and retired from Maytag in 1992. He enjoyed gardening, spending time outdoors, driving through the country, and his family and friends.
Terry is survived by his children, Teresa Bakalar and fiancé Larry Ellis of Bussey, Randy Bakalar and Lora of Albia, Michelle Kendall and Joe of Knoxville, and Angela Thompson and Keith of Hamilton; seven grandchildren, Nicholas, Tara, Paige, Cody, Katie, Jake, and Libby; and two great grandchildren, Ethan and Aly. Terry is also survived by four brothers, Tom, Doc, Ralph, and Bryce; and six sisters, Bev, Eve, Linda, Nance, Peg, and Marge.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy; and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30A.M., Saturday, May 1, 2010, at Winfield Funeral Home in Albia, with Rev. Richard Grimes officiating. Burial will follow services at Hamilton Cemetery in Hamilton, Iowa.
Visitation will begin on Friday, April 30th, from 12:00 P.M., to 8:00 P.M. at the Winfield Funeral Home in Albia. Terry's family will be present from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., at the funeral home Friday evening.
A memorial will be established to Hospice of Monroe County.
