Funeral for Mrs. Alethea Wallace Porter, 70, 400 Morris Boulevard, who died Friday in a local hospital, was Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at All Saint's Episcopal Church, Homeward, with burial in Elmwood cemetery, Johns-Ridout (2116 8th Ave. S) directed.
A native of Birmingham, Mrs. Porter was a graduate of Florence State Teacher's College. She was a member of All Saint's Episcopal Church, and was a secretary and regent for the General Pickett Chapter, DAR.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Alfred W. Seier, Jr., Birmingham; two sons, Irvine C. Porter of Homewood and Capt. Neil C. Porter, USN, retired, of Newport R.I.; and three brothers, John H. Wallace, Jr. of Decatur, GA, C. Hunter Wallace of Pinson and William O. Wallace of Birmingham; 9 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The Rever. Henry C. Borton officiated. Pallbearers were Claiborne Porter Seier, Alfred W. Seier, III, James W. Porter II, Irvine C. Porter, III, Neil Claiborn Porter, Jr., Dr. Peter Rice, Robert E. McClain, and Sterrett C. Henderson."
