BOY TRIES TO IMITATE MAGICIAN BY PLACING BEANS IN HIS EAR; DIES - Medical Science Futile in Strangest Case on Hospital Records - Infection Had Developed too Far - Spinal Meningitis Developed - Boy had never Been Ill Before....
Woodrow Wesley Finn, 6 years old of Vienna, MO died this morning at St. Marys Hospital of Spinal Meningitits after an illness of nearly a month. Woodrow was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Coleman Finn. The disease developed through an infection in the boy's ears when he attempted to imitate an amateur magician who pretended to slip beans in his ears and have them come out his mouth. Woodrow, awded by the performance, found some beans in the kitchen of his home and preceded in an attempt to do the stunt himself. It was not successful of course, and he had to be taken to a hospital in Rolla where the beans were removed by the family physician.

The boy's ears apparently were injured when the beans were removed and infection set in. He was brought to the hospital in a critical condition a week ago last Saturday. For a time it seemed he might recover but two days ago his condition became worse. He died at 11 o'clock this morning.

He is survived by his father and mother, three sisters, Mrs. Gene Rollins of Dixon, MO; Miss Lottie and Miss Reba who live at home with three brothers, Leone, Joe and Willard Eck. Woodrow had been a sturdy youngster and had never been ill a day. The boy was unusually talented for his age and was a general favorite in his neighborhood. Funeral Services will be held Friday at the Methodist Church at Vienna, MO. The Rev. Carl Baldwin will deliver the funeral service. The body is a the Dawson-Tanner Funeral Parlors.
