Leonard J. Butler

Leonard J. Butler, 70, died Saturday, November 5, 1994 at the 11th St. Chautauqua Guest Home.

Funeral services were to be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at the Rudd United Methodist Church with the Rev. W.C. Trembly officiating. Burial was to be in the Osage Cemetery. Champion Funeral Home, Osage, was in charge of arrangements.

Leonard J. Butler was born November 11, 1923 near St. Ansgar, to William and Esther (Edge) Butler. He received his education in the rural schools near Riceville.

On August 8, 1943, he was married to Ona Gilbert in Osage.

He worked for Melvin Apel for 31 years, and at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Mason City for 9½ years. Following his retirement, he was self employed, operating Butler Lawn Service and Woodworking.

Mr. Butler is survived by his wife, Ona, of Rudd; one daughter, Donna (Mrs. Tony) Kuhlemeier of Rudd; one son, James and his wife, Diane, of Nora Springs; six sisters: Dorothy Butler of Wheaton, Illinois; Garnet Butler of Austin, Minnesota; Lorraine (Mrs. Rev. Elvon) Nelson of Wala Wala, Wash.; Virginia Butler of Glendora, Calif.; Margaret (Mrs. Karrol) Bretz, of Minneapolis, and Maureece Butler of Rochester, MN; three brothers: William Butler of Los Angeles; James Butler and his wife, Mary, of Richfield, Minnesota; and Russell Butler and his wife, Nancy, of Phoenix, Arizona; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Arbor.
