Neomia Abbott, 83, of Beaumont died January 10, 2005 at her residence. A native of Cleveland, Oklahoma and resident of the area for a number of years, Neomia had been a member of the Red Cross for fifty years having volunteered in the United, States, Hawaii, and Japan. A member of the GFWC and Texas Federation of Women's Clubs, she was also a Sunday school teacher and sang in church choirs in the United States, Hawaii, and Japan. A competitor and instructor of fencing, Neomia was the Women's Champion of Texas, the Southeast, and Japan. She also competed, instructed, and demonstrated Hula Dancing in Hawaii. Known as "Duck Lady of Beaumont", Neomia enjoyed gardening especially growing Tropical plants. Her husband, Lt. Col. Everett W. Abbott, Jr., United States Air Force passed away in 1993. She is survived by her sons, Everett W. Abbott III and his wife Santina of Liberty and Kenneth T. Abbott and his wife Patricia of Beaumont; thirteen grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren. Memorial service will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 15, 2005 at Northwood Christian Church under the direction of Broussard's, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont Memorial contributions may be made to American Red Cross, 706 Magnolia, Beaumont, Texas 77701.
