McATEER - Fran Middleton
Peacefully at the North Bay General Hospital, McLaren Site on Sunday December 29, 2002 in his 91st year. Beloved husband of Isabel (predeceased); loving father to son, Dr. Michael McAteer (Elizabeth) of Thornhill; daughter Joan Moore (Robert) of Batchawana Bay; dear grandfather to Peter McAteer (Erin) of Toronto, Ann McAteer (Wahid) of Mississauga, Jeffrey McAteer (predeceased), Kristin Moore of Hamilton, Peter Moore (Mary) of Toronto, Sean Moore of Kingston and loving great grandfather to Hanna of Mississauga. Predeceased by brothers Ernest (Denise) of Montreal, William (Rose) of Thunder Bay and by sisters Edna Keast of Toronto, Gladys Counselman of Portland, Oregon and half brother James of Winnipeg. Frank was born in Kenora on February 9, 1912 to Sam and Mildred McAteer.

He graduated from the University of Toronto in 1934. Frank was a long time employee and retiree of the International Nickel Company in Sudbury. During his career, he held the positions of Superintendent of Levack Mine, Assistant Manager of Mines Sudbury District, Vice-President and General Manager of the INCO subsidiaries Exmibal in Guatemala and Nickel Basin Properties Ltd. of Copper Cliff, Ontario. Upon his retirement in 1975, he and his wife Isabel moved to North Bay and enjoyed a wide circle of close friends and varied activities. Frank was a member of the Masonic Order and the Rorab Shrine Club of North Bay. He was an active member of the North Bay Golf and Country Club and the Caribou Lake Hunt Club.

Expressions of sympathy by friends and family may be made by donations to the St. Andrews United Church Memorial Fund or a charity of your choice. Friends may call at the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME in North Bay on Friday from 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held in the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME chapel on Saturday at 3 pm with cremation to follow.

Interment of ashes will be at the Lake of the Woods Cemetery, Kenora, Ontario
