Retired U.S. Army veteran Billy Jo Alexander, 62, of Paris died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, at Henry County Medical Center.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at McEvoy Funeral Home. A military chaplain and Craig Peevyhouse will officiate.

Cremation will follow the service. Burial will be in Birds Creek Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Nichols, Bill Gallimore and Ron Kennedy.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. Wednesday.

Born Jan. 1, 1949, in Detroit, he was a son of Dorothy Alexander Gallimore of Paris and the late Charles Thomas Alexander.

A lifetime member of VFW, he retired as first class sergeant in the U.S. Army. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a member of Birds Creek Baptist Church.

He leaves a daughter, Dawn Kathrine Morgan of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a son, Daniel Frederick (Sandra) Alexander of Florida; a stepdaughter, Uli (Jimmy) Pryse of Colorado Springs;

Three brothers: Charles Thomas (Judy) Alexander of McKenzie, Robert Lynn (Tina) Alexander of Paris and Johnny Dale (Stephanie) Alexander of Lascassas; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
