Son of Charles Lashley HILLYER (1823-1908) and Eliza Dean HILLYER (1824-1871).

He was baptized 19 Oct 1845 at All Saints Church in Biddenden, Kent, England.

He married Sarah Jane CHASMAR, daughter of George CHASMAR (1816-1904) and Sarah Ann Burt CHASMAR (1818-1898), on 19 Jun 1866 at All Saints Church in Woodchurch. After his death, she married Samuel James PRYER in May 1877 in Tenterden, Kent, England. Sarah Jane and her 2nd husband died in Dover, Kent, England.

According to his marriage record, he was an Innkeeper presumably at the Bonny Cravat pub in Woodchurch, Kent, England.

Charles HILLYER was a notable cricket player. He played one first-class match for Kent in 1868.
