Mrs. Virginia E. McLendon has a CSA widow's pension on line in the GA archives virtual vault. She says she was born 5/3/1839in Monroe Co, Ga and married Hilliard McLendon in 1859. He was born Aug 1828 in Pike County, Ga and enlisted in July 1862. He was serving with Company H of the 53 GA Vols and was captured at the Battle of Knoxville, Tenn. He was in Ft. Delaware Prison at the surrendered. After returning home, he died in April 1898 in Pike County, GA.
