O.H. Logan conducting. A second service will be held in Nickelsville at 2:30 P.M., conducted by J.B. Craft. Burial is in the family plot.
Born in Russell County , Virginia August 3, 1868, he married Lillian Josephine ( Lilly Joe) Wood in Nickelsville on December 23, 1893. He is survived by his widow, four sons: Eugene Ernest Lay of Pittsburgh, PA, James Pleasant Lay Jr. at the University of Pittsburgh, Woodrow Wood Lay of Coeburn, and Victor Bond Lay of William and Mary College, Williamsburg, VA. Three daughters: Mrs. Ethel Kate Lay Crawford of Norton, Mrs. Besse Gladys Lay Shogren, and Miss Claire Virginia Lay a teacher in Bluefield , West Virginia . Two daughters passed before him: Clarice Pink Lay and Margaret ( Maggie) Lay. He has two sisters and several half-siblings.
