While there is some proof that his mother may have been named Pheby, there are numerous trees online stating his father was William Race. There is NO documentation to support this. The father of Moses Race, Sr. has not been found at this time. It is believed that John Race who married Ellen Williams on September 9, 1803 in Culpepper County, Virginia is the brother of Moses Race, Sr.

Moses married Mary Tomlin on February 2, 1802 in Culpepper County, Virginia. They lived in Brown County, Ohio and Pendleton County, Kentucky.

There are 19 children that are thought to be linked to Moses and Mary (although I currently have proof for only Lawson, Abigail, Alexander, Eleanor & Hiram). The 19 children are: Jeremiah, Lawson, Maxy Mary (Egleston), Michael P., Delila Cordelia (Clements), William D., Abigail Jane (Hawkins), Alexander L., Eleanor, Hiram, Moses Jr., Eliza Jane (Hawkins), Joanna, Mary Ann (Shaffer), John James, Ebenezer, Emiline Margaret (Daugherty), Elizabeth C. (Vastine) and John Enos Race.
