W.B. "Dub" Franklin, Jr. died in a local hospital on Monday, January 8, 2001.
A visitation has been set for Tuesday, January 9, 2001, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Ellis Funeral Home. Funeral services have been scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2001, at Crestview Baptist Church with Dr. Larry Ashlock officiating. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.
W.B. Franklin was born December 8, 1933 in Midland to William Buck and Etta Lee Franklin. Hew as reared and educated in Midland and graduated in 1951 from Midland High School. On February 20, 1952, he married Sherry June Bethel. He was a draftsman for Getty Oil from 1952-1974. They own Alicea Art Gallery. He was a well-known landscape artist, with paintings in the White House, numerous Governor's mansions, and other well known business and homes. He was President of Chaparral Water Systems sins 1986. He was also a member of Crestview Baptist Church.
W.B. was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. He is survived by his son, Darly Franklin, of Midland; his tow daughters, Marilyn Franklin of Carrollton, and Susan Barnes, of Houston; his sister Billie Vest, of Long Beach, Calif.; his grandsons, Jimmy Armentrout of Midland, Chris Armentrout of Carrollton, and Cole Hanson and Will Hanson, both of Midland; his granddaughters, Julie Barnes DeShazo, Tyler Barnes, and Keri Barnes, all of Houston, and Morgan Hanson of Midland; and several nieces and nephews.
The family requests memorials be directed to Crestview Baptist Church Building Fund, 3300 Thomas, Midland, Texas 79703
