She was born Dec. 1, 1937, in Livingston, Tenn., and had lived in the Anderson area since 1964.
She attended Rickman High School in Rickman, Tenn.
Jeanne was a homemaker.
She was a member of Oak Hill United Methodist Church in Livingston, Tenn., and attended East 38th Street Freewill Baptist Church in Anderson. She enjoyed spending time with her grandson.
Survivors include her husband, Horace Matthews, whom she married April 7, 1956; daughter, Connie (John) Jones of Pendleton; grandson, John Paul Jones Jr. aka "Little Bit"; sisters, Geneva Miller of Rickman, Tenn., and Rebecca (Jim) Bivens of Crossville, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Jack and Janet Sanders, Bill and Vivian Hollars, Junior Key and family, and Dorothy and Kenny Sanders, all of Anderson.
The family would like to thank Dr. Brian Eddy and staff, Dr. Robert Anderson, Hospice nurses and St. John's 6th-floor nursing staff for their care and compassion.
Jeanne was preceded in death by her son, Ronnie Matthews; parents, John Calvin and Stella Mae (Cantrell) Young; sisters, Betty Sue Young and Kathleen Brown; and a brother, John Young Jr.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Home and Crematory, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Eric Fox, Pastor Bill Hollars, Jimmy Bivens and Craig Bivens. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at East Maplewood Cemetery.
