Zeb B. Buchanan Claimed By Death
Last rites for Zeb B. Buchanan, former Blowing Roac and Hickory real estate man, were conducted Sunday afternoon fro the Cove Creek Baptist church by Reverend H. K. Middleton, pastor, who was assisted by Reverend M. A. Osborne, pastor of the Watauga Methodist Circuit, and Reverend J. C. Canipe, pastor of the Boone Baptist church. Burial was in the Henson's Chapel cemetery.
Mr. Buchanan became ill with influenza last week and succumbed in a Morganton Hospital Saturday morning. He was born at Bakersville in 1873 and early in life moved to Blowing Rock and established a mercantile business, remaining there until 1900 when he moved to Hickory. In Hickory he was a prosperous figure in the real estate business for 30 years.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Myrtle A. Buchanan, a son, a sister, two granddaughters and a great grandson.
Pall bearers were S. F. Horton, W. T. Payne, D. T. Brown, T. J. Moody, James Miller and Andrew Greer.
Flower girls, directed by Mrs. Maude Spainhour, were Jamie Horton, Nell Gragg, Marjorie Baird, Carrie Isaacs, Mrs. Amy Johnson, Mamie Mast, Susie Henson and Kate Henson.
Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were Mrs. R. T. Crow,, McClure, Virginia; Mrs. M. A. Calloway, Kingsport, Tennessee; Mr. and Mrs. George Calloway and son, Pat, Kingsport, Tennessee; Cecil Calloway, Radford, Virginia; Mrs. Molly Henderson, Kingsport, Tennessee and Mrs. Harry Gillespie, Limestone, Tennessee.
