Showns he was also in Company D 2 & 6
Richard was part of the 6th Regiment Infantry Volunteers, Company C
He was born to Thomas Henry and Rebecca Childers of Howard County, Missouri in about 1841. I have found muster rolls, some with the name Childress and others with the family name we still use which is Childers. All records are for the same person Richard Henry Childers.
Records show he served in the battles of Drywood, Lexington, Elk Horn, Iuka, Port Gibson, Corinth, Grand Gulf, Baker's Creek where captured, exchanged, GA-camp 1864, Allatoona, Tilton and finally the Battle of Franklin.
