Jewel (Crouch) Morris, age 86 of Fairfield, Texas died Friday, February 11, 2011 at Fairfield Nursing and Rehab in Fairfield.

Services will be 2pm Monday, February 14, 2011 at Round Prairie Baptist Church with her grandson Michael Cotten, associate pastor of Riding High Cowboy Ministries of Raywood, Texas officiating assisted by Reverend Ed Ridge, pastor of Round Prairie Baptist Church.

Buriel will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Visitation is Sunday, February 13 from 6-8pm at Capps Memorial Chapel.

Mrs. Morris was born the fourth of eleven children on July 9, 1924 in the Turlington community of Freestone County to parents John Carter and Sarah Burton Scruggs.

She was a lifetime Fairfield resident working at the glove factory, Adams Hat Factory in Corsicana, Texas and for many years as a waitress at Sam's Restaurant.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Lee Lander and Ellen Gunter.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Trent Long, Troy Brown, Kevin Crouch, Daniel Crouch and two great-grandsons, Matthew Harris and Logan Beard.

Left to cherish her memory are five daughters, Lucille Carter and husband Jerry of Fairfield, Etna Cotten and husband Melvin of Saratoga, Texas, Rena Richardson and husband Ronnie of Corsicana, Texas, Retha Little of Fairfield, Kathy Dougherty and husband James of Greenville, Texas, one son, Ronnie Crouch of Farmers Branch, Texas and Robin of Fairfield, four brothers, Clarence Scruggs of Fairfield, Carter Scruggs of Bloomfield, New Mexico, Newman Scruggs of Fairfield, Clinton Scruggs of Teague, Texas, her four sisters, Lizzie Crouch of Corsicana, Fay Ward of Fairfield, Grace Pannell of Garland, Texas and Sarah Park of Trinidad, Texas.

She was also blessed with seventeen grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
