Amy Scott Stokes, 57, of Graysville, Pa. died at 6:20 p.m. Tuesday, August 3, 2010 in the Donnell House, Washington, Pa. of a cancer- related illness. She was born October 10, 1952 in Washington, Pa. a daughter of Rev. John Mark Scott, Sr. (Ret.) of West Middletown, Pa. and the late Elizabeth Anne Mackey Scott. Mrs. Stokes was a 1970 graduate of Trinity High School and had attended Penn State University for 3 years under the Liberal Arts program with an interest in clothing design. She had an avid interest in clothing design, sewing, cooking and enjoyed reading in her private sanctuary of her home. Mrs. Stokes had been the co-owner and operator with her husband of the Stokes General Merchandise Store in Wind Ridge since 1973. On June 10, 1973 she married Paul Braddock Stokes who survives. Also surviving in addition to her husband and father is a daughter, Cristin, wife of Ian Snyder, and a son Adam, husband of Diane Stokes both of Wind Ridge; three grandchildren, Isabella, Emily Ann and Sarah Stokes; two sisters, Sarah C. Scott of Washington and Nancy, wife of Art Gilkes of Pittsburgh (Shadyside); a brother, John Mark Scott, Jr., husband of Judith Scott of Avella. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to your local American Cancer Society.
