Anchorage Daily News November 7, 2010

Former Anchorage resident Oran "Lee" Lethgo, 66, died Oct. 6, 2010, at his home in Albuquerque, N.M. A graveside service was Nov. 16 at Fort Richardson National Cemetery.

Lee was born Aug. 20, 1944, in Altus, Okla., to the late Carl and Juanita (Sirmons) Lethgo. Lee came to Fort Richardson in 1970 while serving in the U.S. Army. After his discharge, he made Alaska his home. He worked for numerous companies at Prudhoe Bay and Anchorage until he moved to New Mexico in 2001. Lee was a Vietnam veteran, a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and a past member of Teamsters Local 959.

He is survived by his wife of 48-plus years, Patsy; son, Shane Lethgo of Anchorage; daughter, Tawnya Hightower of Wasilla; and son, Shannon James Lethgo of Las Vegas, Nev.; four grandchildren: granddaughters, Amanda Hightower of Wasilla and Brittney Lethgo of Puyallup, Wash.; grandsons, Thomas Hightower and William Hightower of Wasilla; a great-grandson, Gabriel Thomas Hightower of Wasilla; three sisters, Essie St. John of Oklahoma, Ladonna Dees of Arizona and Twyla Reilly of Oklahoma; and brother-in-law, Bill Birch of Ohio. It was Lee's wish that donations be made to the VA Domiciliary in Anchorage, which supports homeless veterans, 3001 C St., Anchorage, 99503, in lieu of flowers. He also wished that each time you see an active-duty military person or an American veteran that you take a moment of your time to give them your sincere "thank-you" for their service to our country.
