Steven Lewis Camp, 66, of Atchison, Kansas, passed away on February 10, 2011 at his residence.
Steven was born in Columbia, Missouri, the son of Robert and Catherine Swope Camp. He attended the Cathedral Elementary School, graduating from Central High School, St. Joseph, Missouri.
Steven was employed with Johnson Controls of St. Joseph, Missouri as an operator, retiring in 1995 after twenty years of service. He served in the United States Army from 1968 until his honorable discharge in 1973 after serving in Vietnam, receiving the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and the Army Commendation Medal. He was a member of the Catholic faith. He held membership in the laborer's union. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and formerly was a dance instructor for Cliff and Paul's Dance Studio in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Steven Lewis Camp is survived by a daughter, Amy Blaski, Atchison, KS, two sons, Scott Camp, Atchison, KS, Chris Camp, Lancaster, KS, a brother, Robert Camp, St. Joseph, MO and five grandchildren, Jacob Camp, Riley Camp, Layne Camp, Blake Camp and Noah Blaski.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Carrie Camp and a brother, Gregory Camp.
Services to be held on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, February 15, 2011 from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m., in the chapel of Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. Private family interment will be held at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas.
