Artist. Son of poet Robert and Elizabeth Barrett Browning. Born at the Casa Guidi Apartment in Florence, Italy, his mother was 43 year old when she gave birth to him. He grew up as the only child of literary geniuses, home schooled, traveling to France and England. His mother, Elizabeth, died when he was 12 years old. When it was acknowledged that he had a gift for painting and sculpture, he studied with Auguste Rodin in Paris and Jean-Arnold Heyermans in Antwerp, Belgium. In In October 1887, he married an American heiress Fannie Coddingtion. He brought and restore Palazzo Rezzonico, one of the great palaces on the Grand Canal in Venice. Palazzo Rezzonico is now 'The Venetian Museum of Baroque Art'. When he Pen in Asolo, Italy in 1912, his will could not be found, so his estranged wife and his cousins the 'Barretts' claimed his estate, including Casa Guidi and all the Browning Treasures. Everything he had possessed was sold to the highest bidder at a six day sale at Sotheby's in London in 1913. Casa Guidi was preserved for nearly a century and it is now owned by Eton College, England.
