Son of Archie (Brabant) Paro and Nellie Singleton. A resident of Watertown, NY practically all of his life, he was educated in the local public schools. He married Miss Florence Queal of Watertown on July 28, 1933 in Holy Family Church, Watertown, NY. He was active for years in the musical circles, playing the drums in a number of dance bands and orchestras, including those of Ray LaBounty, Francis (Ted) Greene and Frederic Bellinger, and at one time was the leader of his own orchestra. On a number of occasions he played in orchestras that provided music for functions at the local Elks club. Employed by the railroad as a brakeman with the New York Central Railroad, he worked on the WG-1, freight train from Watertown to Ogdensburg. He was a member of the Watertown Lodge of Elks, the Musicians' Union, the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen and the Holy Family Church. On the day of his death, after leaving duty at 8:45 in the morning, he and William English and H.L. Simser, conductor and brakeman on the train, walked to a restaurant in Ogdensburg for breakfast. The men were walking back from the restaurant to the railroad station when he collapsed on the sidewalk in front of Milia's Shoe Repair store on Ford Street. A police ambulance, called to the scene, hurried him to the Hepburn hospital, but he was dead upon arrival. Dr. R. L. Stacy, Ogdensburg, coroner, pronounced him dead. His body was brought to the Cummings Funeral Home, Watertown. Surviving Mr. Paro (he was more familiarly known as "Ding" Paro), were his wife, Mrs. Florence Queal Paro; two children, Thomas D. Paro and Patricia A. Paro and his sister Rita E. Bliven, Ithaca. Funeral services were held from the Cummings Funeral home, followed by the funeral at Holy Family Church. Burial is in St. Cyrils Cemetary, Alexandria Bay.
