Last Wednesday night the subject of this writing died at his home, near Zion church, after a long illness. He was about 74 years old and his affliction was complicated. It was not often that he was able to leave his home. He was a good citizen and was very much liked by the people of the neighborhood, and his death brought sorrow to many homes.

He is survived by his wife and seven children, five sons and two daughters, Mr. Lewis Young, a merchant of this place, and Mrs. Henry Moore, who also resides in Columbia, being two of the number. Much sympathy felt for the surviving members by those who knew the father and his manner of living. He will not only be missed by the immediate family, but many who knew him from boyhood to old age.

A large circle of friends attended the funeral and there were many beautiful floral offerings. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. R.V. Bennett, of the Methodist church, in the absence of a Pastor of the Christian church, of which the deceased was a member.

The interment was in the Cabbell burying ground where several of the deceased family rest. The News extends its profoundest sympathy to all who have been made to weep over this sad dispensation of Providence. Father and husband cannot return to them, but correct living will bring them all together in the final day.
