Sally was the daughter of Wesley W. Walker and Frances Elizabeth Barron Walker. The middle name of Wesley W. Walker was either William or Waymon/Wymon. Sally lived all of her life in Union Parish, Louisiansa.

On 11 January 1872, Sarah Melissa Walker and Williamson Webster Cobb were married in Union Parish, Louisiana. Their children were Lorena Elizabeth "Lizzie" Cobb Wall, Lenora Amanda Cobb Green, Leonard Columbus Cobb, Viola May Cobb Frisby, E. Gertie Cobb, Effie Darthula Cobb Moore, Leander Williamson Cobb and Emmett Claudis Cobb.

Three of Sally's ancestors are documented Daughters of the American Revolution soldiers and patriots. The DAR ancestors are John Barron (GA), William Barron (GA) and John Garrard (GA).
