Midvale - Mary Rhuperta Whiting Smith, 88, of 33 S. Chapel St., Midvale, died August 3 at home of natural causes.
Born at Nephi, Juab County, May 28, 1885 to Daniel Abraham and Mary Emily Klenke Whiting. She married Thomas Smith Sept. 13, 1905, in the Logan LDS Temple. He died May 23, 1968. Mary was a member of the LDS Church, past stake Primary president; past Relief Society president and visiting teacher; first captain in Neola Camp, DUP; also a member of Union Fort Camp and Hurricane Camp, DUP.
Survivors include sons and daughters, Mrs. Oluf (Burnetta) Duncan, Neola; William R., Fullerton, Calif.; Mrs. Donna R. Stout and Thomas V., both of Midvale; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; brothers and sister, Mrs. Bill (Sarah) Crozier; Harold C., both of Neola; and Wilford of Monroe, Utah.
Funeral will be Tuesday at 12 noon, Midvale 3rd LDS Ward Chapel, 75 Olympus St. Friends may call at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State, Monday from 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday at the ward chapel one hour prior to services. Burial in Midvale City Cemetery.
