Drucilla was the third child born to George and Carrie Roberts Passey. She had two older brothers, George Iland and John. She also has eight younger siblings; Lamont, Milford, Vilda, Leola, Clinton, Lael, Blaine, and Lloyd. The family moved to Alberta Canada where they lived until 1915 when they returned to the Bear Lake Valley and settled in Paris Idaho. She married Shiblon Smith Ovard April 20, 1925, later solemnized in the Logan Temple. After graduating from Ricks College in 1931, she taught school for five years in Bear Lake Valley, one year at Adams School in Rexburg, three years in North Salem Idaho. Two years at Washington School in Rexburg, two years at Felt, Teton County, Four years in Moody, Madison County, Moved to Salt Lake City in 1942. Worked at the Rehabilitation Center at Fort Douglas, and finished college at the University of Utah. Taught school for 21 years in the Granite School District and retired from teaching in 1967.
Anyone who has ever been a pupil of Mrs. Ovard knows what a wonderful loving teacher she was. Through the years she received many awards because of her dedication and service to her students. She was loved by many.
