Mary M. Wellnitz (87), of Emporia, died Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Newman Regional Health.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The mass will be celebrated by Fr. Rich Warsnak of Sacred Heart. The Rosary will be recited 7:00 P.M. Friday, January10, 2014 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.
Mary Margaret Gaughan, the daughter of Edward and Marie Supple Gaughan was born July 30, 1926 in Emporia. She married Francis Anthony Wellnitz on November 3, 1956 in Emporia. He died January 26, 1996.
She is survived by her son and his wife, Joseph F. and Jennifer Wellnitz of Emporia; and a grandson Colton Wellnitz of Emporia.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother Edward Gaughan.
Mary was a home maker. When she was younger, she was a teacher at rural schools, and an operator for AT&T. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the altar society of the church and the Red Hats.
Memorial donations to the Emporia Public Library may be sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
