Mr. Vessey was born Dec. 31, 1930, in Portland. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service. In 1948, he married Betty Gugat.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Thomas J., Richard L., Scott R. and Sean T.; sister, Virginia Anderson; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. His son Donald C. II died in 1966.
