Mrs. Martha Ellen McDonald of Edge passed away after several weeks illness, at her farm in Edge community, on Tuesday night at 10:30 o'clock. Mrs. McDonald suffered a stroke recently from which she continued to grow worse.

She is the mother of our townsmen, V. C. McDonald and W. D. McDonald. She has spent a great deal of her time here in the homes of her sons and she was greatly esteemed by all who knew her, as a lady of high ideals and deep conviction. She was a faithful loyal member of her church and devoted in attendance of its services. The Star joins many friends in condolence to the sons here and other relatives upon the loss of their mother whose gracious influence will remain as a benediction of blessing.

The deceased was born in Canton, North Carolina, on August 24th 1863, she was 81 years, 7 months and 23 days old.
She was a member of the Church of Christ at Edge where she had lived for 78 years. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Jessie Wilson, Edge and Mrs. Ernest Coursey of Coleman; four sons, W. D. McDonald and V. C. McDonald of Normangee, J. M. McDonald of Edge. One sister, Mrs. Selma McDonald, 27 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren also mourn her loss.

Funeral services were held on Thursday morning at 11 o'clock at the Church of Christ at Edge, conducted by R. B. Sweet, minister of the Church of Christ at College Station. Interment was made at the New Church cemetery under the direction of Hillier Funeral Home. Six grandsons served as pallberaers. The grave was banked with beautiful floral offerings.
