Son of Abraham and Lucy (Smith) Anderson. Edward, a farmer, owned & lived on the large historical farm known as the Parson Smith House.
At the death of his grandfather in 1826, Parson Smith (Rev. Peter T. Smith), his properties were put up for "public vendue" to help settle his estate. Edward's father Abraham apparently was the highest bidder and became the new owner. A few days later, he conveyed the property to Edward for the same price he paid.
He was in public life for many years. He was one of the Selectmen of Windham in 1829, 1834, 1835, 1842, 1846, 1847,
1848, and 1849. He also represented the town in the legislature, in 1844. He was interested in the State Militia and rose to the rank of Lieut. Colonel.
On November 30, 1830, Edward married Louisa Berry, daughter of Joshua and Olive (Wison) Berry. Togethr they had three daughters, Susan, Olive, and Lucy, who were next in line of owners of the Parson Smith house.
When Edward's 1st cousin Thomas passed away in 1832, he left behind six very small children, which his wife, for some reason or another, farmed out to other members of the family. Edward and Louisa took in Edward Agustus Anderson at about the age of 10. He was three years older than their oldest child. He continued to live there with his wife and children.
Edward died at his residence Oct. 7, 1867. His wife died July 1881, aged 77 years.
