Former Elko Resident dies in Oklahoma at 78

Irene B. Dufault, former resident of Elko, died Sunday in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, at the age of 78. She was born February 21, 1918, in Elk River, Minnesota to Dusty and Mary Vaudrin Ricord. She was reared and schooled in Minnesota and married Maurice Dufault in Minnesota on May 21, 1940.

She moved to the Bay Area and Clear Lake, California in 1950m and moved to Elko in 1983, living here until moving to Broken Arrow in 1993.

Survivors include sons, Duane Dufault of Red Bluff, California, Eli Dufault of Ollala, Washington, and Steven Dufault of Mansfield, Texas; daughters, Vonnie Minter of Broken Arrow, Janice Sutherland and Nina Anthony of Elko, Leah Picard of Lake Charles, LA; brothers, Herman Ricord of Marne, Michigan, Mose Ricord of Crookston, Minnesota, Sister, Florence Balstead of Beltrami, Minnesota; 21 grandchildren; and 36 great grandchildren.

Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Jude Besinga officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at the Burns Funeral Home. Burial will be in Burns Memorial Gardens.

In her memory, contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 5025, Elko 89802 or the charity of the donor's choice.
