Raymond F. Baum, a well known retired Bethlehem Steel Company employee, died suddenly at 8:20 o'clock this morning at his home, 109 Pershing Ave. He was 69.
Baum was stricken with a heart attack shortly after rising this morning. He had been in ill health as a result of a heart condition for the last six months and hospitalized five times.
A native and lifelong resident of Lebanon, he was the son of the late Jacob and Virginia Baum. His father was a cigar maker.
An employee of the B. S. plant here for 31 years, Baum retired about four years ago. At the time of his retirement he was a die setter. He was a member of St. Stephen's E. and R. Church.
Surviving are his wife, the former Leida M. Evans; two sons, Samuel and Norman, both of Lebanon, and a daughter, Martha, wife of Warren Lewars, of Boyertown. Also surviving are eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and one brother, Albert Baum, a well known local barber. [Lebanon Daily News, Saturday November 9, 1957]
