"Zoe
I had ran across online that Plainville was considering putting the "John Root" house on the historical registry list."

I have not seen a photo of it, nor do I know which John Root the home refers to.

It is apparently located on the corner of Main and Washington Street, Plainville, CT. Know anybody that might drive down there and see what it looks like?"

John ROOT
Birth: 11 OCT 1718 in Farmington, CT
Death: 21 DEC 1778 in Farmington, CT

(Birth in 1718 would mean he died at age 60, not 59.
One would guess then, that he was actually born in 1719.)

This is the quote from James Pierce Root's "Root Genealogical Records

JOHN ROOT, son of John (361), grandson of Joseph (351), b. Sept. 9, 1690, at Farmington, Ct. ; m. Dec. 9, 1714, Martha (Orvice) Hunn, widow of Nathaniel Hunn. He settled in Southington, on the place now occupied by Mr. Washburn Dunham, and probably lived in the same house. In the survey of the first highway that was laid through the town (June, 1722) the house of John Root is mentioned on the high ground south of the river. It is now in Plainville. He d. 1767.
Children:
499. I. HEZEKIAH, b. Nov. 16, 1715.
500. II. JOHN, b. Oct. 11, 1718; d. Dec. 21, 1778,
501. III. MARTHA, b. May 4, 1721
502. IV. JOSIAH, b. Aug. 25, 1724; d. Oct. 1, 1752, ae. 28.

Nowhere in the volume does he cite the source of John's birth. If James Root referred to a Roote family record or an early researcher who noted John's birth as ie ye 11th d 10th m 1818, this may have resulted in Oct 11, 1818 instead of Jan 11, 1718/19 or the year may have been nearly illegible. Unfortunately without a citation, the tombstone becomes the primary and ONLY source so far for John's date of birth, and likely occurred in 1719.

Even though John Sr and his son John Jr both resided in what is now Plainville (John Jr. prob inherited his father's residence) their birth and death residences are not considered Plainville because...

Originally Farmington
Out of Farmington, Southington (South Farmington) was created in 1779, after John Jr's death.

Out of Southington, Plainville was created in July 1869.
Root, John, died Dec. 21, 1778, died in the 60th year of his age.
